Frequently Asked Questions

  • Let’s debunk the myth that you have to be in crisis to go to therapy. Not true! Therapy will meet you wherever you are at. You might feel like life is unmanageable, your emotions are overwhelming, you’re going through a transition, or stuck in patterns you can’t get out of.

  • That would make you human! Many people are nervous or embarrassed to open up to a complete stranger and share their deeper, vulnerable parts. We can go as slow as you want.

  • I would never! I’m human too and I’ve had a plethora of “interesting” experiences in my own life. My friends come to me because they know they can share it all without judgment.

  • My career in the helping profession started in 2013 when I became an Addictions Counselor. I worked with women who were referred by CPS or probation that struggled with addiction. You can learn more here.

  • This is very important! Therapy is a place to be vulnerable and share parts of ourselves we don’t normally, so if the connection isn’t there, that’s okay! This is why I love doing a 15 minute consultation, so we both can get to know each other. You may find that after the first or fourth session I may not be the therapist for you. No hard feelings!

  • I show up as myself in the therapy room. This means I am engaged, honest and direct, and always attuned and respectful. I may gently challenge patterns, ask thought provoking questions and offer feedback.

  • I would love to hear more about why you are seeking therapy, any past experience with therapy (positive or negative), and what you are looking for in this therapy process. I will tell you about how I work, my availability and cost (private versus insurance). Then it’s open for any questions!

  • Life happens! You are welcome to cancel or reschedule your appointment 36 hours before our session at no charge. Because that time was specifically reserved for you, any cancellations within 36 hours from your appointment will be charged full fee. This helps me maintain my practice and provide consistent high-quality care. If there are any questions or concerns, please be sure to talk with me.

  • YES! This is a very important part of the therapeutic process. Everything you share with me stays confidential. There are a few reasons why I would ever break our confidentiality and they include:

Child or elder abuse that is currently happening and as a mandated reporter, I will call CPS or APS to help protect the victims.

Serious thoughts of harming yourself or another person, such that I fear you might leave my office and take action.

  • I work Tuesdays 9:00 AM — 6:00 PM and Fridays 9:00 AM — 4:00 PM.. Every so often, I will see clients virtually at 7:30 PM.

  • Individual sessions: $175 per 50 minutes

Couples Therapy: $190 per 50 minutes

Always the option to extend sessions. For insurance, I will take your insurance card, put it into the system and let you know what your co-pay is.

  • Since I accept insurance, I do not offer sliding scale fees at this time. text goes here

  • Absolutely.

  • This is person dependent but I usually like to see clients weekly or biweekly when we start. As things move along, I like to add space between sessions so life can show up! If sessions are too spaced out at the beginning or during more challenging times, the work slows down.

  • Each session is 50 minutes for private pay and 53 minutes for insurance. If you would like longer sessions, please let me know.

  • The first session is about getting to know you! One of the most important parts of therapy is the therapeutic relationship between therapist and client. This first session is an opportunity to connect and see if we are a good fit for each other.

  • I would highly encourage you to tell me! It’s a safe space. When we can have real, in the moment conversations, those bring about the most growth.

  • Therapy is like going to the physical therapist. We can’t possibly expect to get better by dedicating only 50 minutes a week to our mental health or relationship. Depending on what we work on, there is usually a focus, exposure or physical homework to complete for the next time we meet. This is not to punish you but to help you feel better quicker!
